The Legacy Traditional Schools – Texas Board approved Mrs. Lisa Freeman Schutz as the lone finalist for Superintendent during its meeting on June 2, 2025.

Mrs. Freeman Schutz brings more than 30 years of experience as an educator, administrator, and district superintendent to her new appointment. Her past roles include serving as superintendent for Brooks Academies of Texas, as well as District Director of Student Services for KIPP San Antonio. Her deep experience within charter schools, including as a member of the Legacy – Texas Board since November 2023, have prepared her for this next step in supporting our students.

As she departs her current position on the board, she is excited to contribute more directly to the Legacy Traditional Schools – Texas mission to provide a learning culture where all students thrive and excel.

As per Texas law, the district will observe a 21-day waiting period before the Board can formally hire.

Mrs. Freeman Schutz superintendent salary is $155,000 annually.
